If your child has an ESA through the Arizona Department of Education, you can use those funds toward your Rooted in Writing subscription through ClassWallet — the digital wallet platform the ESA program uses. There are two ways to do it.

Heads up: Arizona reviews and approves ESA purchases before items ship. Plan for a little lead time so your box arrives when you'd like it to.

Option 1 — Direct Pay (no out-of-pocket cost)

With Direct Pay, ClassWallet sends payment to us directly from your student's ESA funds. You never pay out of your own pocket.

  1. Request an invoice from us using the invoice request form. We'll need your child's name & which subscription you'd like.
  2. We'll send you an itemized invoice with everything Arizona requires — our vendor name, the date, a clear description of each item, & the total.
  3. Log in to ClassWallet and click "Pay" — or open the menu and choose "Pay Vendor."
  4. Search for Rooted in Writing, then click PAY. (You can search by vendor name, category, or tag.)
  5. Enter the payment amount so it matches the total on the invoice we sent you.
  6. Upload your invoice as supporting documentation. ClassWallet accepts JPEG, PNG, or PDF files, up to 10 MB and 5 pages.
  7. Choose the purse that will fund the transaction, and select your expense category if asked.
  8. Review & submit. Once the Arizona Department of Education approves the request, ClassWallet sends payment to us — and we'll get your box on its way.

Option 2 — Reimbursement

Prefer to purchase now & be reimbursed? You can do that too.

  1. Purchase your subscription right here on our site and save your itemized receipt.
  2. Log in to ClassWallet and click "Start New Reimbursement."
  3. Enter our store name & the total, then upload a PDF of your itemized receipt.

Your receipt will include everything Arizona looks for: our vendor name, the date of purchase, a clear description of each item, & the total charge.

We're happy to send one over. Just fill out the invoice request form and we'll get it to you — formatted with everything Arizona ESA requires, so all you have to do is upload it.
